Brazil’s Everglades Times Ten

If you’ve seen Florida’s Everglades, you know what a rich environment for wildlife a wetland can be. Brazil’s Pantanal region is the biggest wetland in the world, 10 times the size of the Everglades, and since it’s much less developed and crowded than South Florida, the place is teeming with birds, fish, giant river otters, caymans, foxes, and more.

Horseback tours and river excursions by motorboat or canoe are available, and the river is safe for swimming… despite all those toothy caymans and vicious piranhas.
